Dying Fan Sees “Star Trek Into Darkness” Early

J.J. Abrams has granted the wish of a dying fan to see Star Trek Into Darkness.

On Christmas Day, a Reddit user named “ideeeyut” posted a plea on behalf of his friend Dan.  The post said that Dan, who is 41, was dying of two types of cancer and wanted to see the next Trek film before he passed away.  Dan purchased an IMAX ticket to The Hobbit to see the ten minute preview.

According to stories, Abrams became aware of the on-line campaign and soon contacted Dan’s wife with an offer.  Abrams screened the next Trek installment for Dan, granting a dying wish.

According to his friend, he “loved it.”
