Could the Paranormal Activity franchise be showing signs of slowing down?
It’s possible after this weekend’s box office results.
The fourth installment took in $30.2 million in its opening weekend. While that was good enough to take the top spot at the box office, it was down significantly from the last several openings in the franchise.
But that doesn’t mean we won’t get more. A fifth installment is planned for next year.
In second was Ben Affleck’s Argo with $16.6 million. Third place went to the animated Hotel Translyania with $13.5 million.
After two weeks in the top spot, Taken 2 came down three spots and took fourth with $13.4 million.
Rounding out the top five was a disappointing opening for Alex Cross with $11.7 million. Starring Tyler Perry in the title role, the film was one of the lowest openings for Perry as a headliner.
