While we were skeptical about the Munsters reboot when we first heard the news, the combination of Bryan Fuller as producer and some of the casting choices had us intrigued.
Looks like we may have got our hopes up a bit too soon. Deadline is reporting that NBC is close to passing on the pilot for the rebooted Munsters, which is called Mockingbird Lane.
Reports indicate that while the updating of the series is visually stylish and a more serious take on the original material, a change in leadership at NBC could lead to the series finally being passed on. The project has been in development for the last couple of years, with NBC pushing it back each time. The latest move found the project moved from this fall to the spring and we had hope when we heard casting news.
NBC may be hedging its bets by not having Fuller focused on two series. Fuller is currently working on the Hannibal Lecter series that was given a blind order of thirteen episodes by the network.
No word yet on if Mockingbird Lane could be shopped to another network.
