Andrew Garfield will sling webs and James Webb will direct the next installment of The Amazing Spider-Man.
The actor and director joined on the franchise’s reboot this summer which did well enough at the box office to warrant a sequel. The first film offered hints of a longer narrative and Webb said he saw his take on Spider-Man as a trilogy of films.
We could not be more confident in the direction we are taking this new Spider-Man storyline and we are tremendously excited to be ramping up production again with Marc at the helm and Andrew continuing on as Peter Parker,” said Doug Belgrad, president of Columbia Pictures, in a statement.
The new adventure, which will begin shooting in early 2013, is already pegged for release on May 2, 2014.
