Peter Jackson has given us a longer look at the upcoming Lord of the Rings prequel, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.

I got less eager when I heard they were stretching it out into three movies!
Same here. How on earth can you turn a rather small book into a trilogy. I understand theirs definitely going to be new material, but about what, seriously, about what.
