Another 80’s TV series is headed for the big-screen.
Sony Animated has picked up the feature fights to Manimal and will make a hybrid CGI animated/live action feature based on the show.
Manimal followed Dr. Jonathan Chase, a wealthy doctor with a mysterious past, who morphed into animals in order to help the police fight crime.
The show, which starred Brit Simon MacCorkindale and Melody Anderson (who played Dale Arden in the 1980 movie Flash Gordon), was slaughtered by critics and trounced when it aired in 1983 opposite Dallas, then a ratings juggernaut. It was canceled after just eight episodes.
Glen A. Larson produced the original and is part of the big-screen reboot.

Since when has The Cinema Snob been working for Sony Animation? 😉

I remember Manimal. When it got cancelled, Simon went to Falcon Crest. Lol. But if they’re gonna make a CGI film from an 80’s show, I think Automan would be a better choice. Just my opinion.
