Actor Nathan Fillion won’t be a significant part of the Marvel movie universe in the upcoming Guardian of the Galaxy movie.
Fans were hoping that the combination of Joss Whedon guiding the Marvel movie universe and James Gunn directing the big-screen version of Guardians might mean Whedon would have a significant if not leading role in the film.
Fillion has ruled that out, saying that his commitment to Castle will keep him from taking a role in the Guardians movie.
“I’m very busy right now with a job that I’m grateful for,” Fillion told MTV News “I’ve made a commitment [to Castle] and I have to see it through. And I’m really happy to.”
However, that doesn’t mean Fillion is out of the loop. He’s spoken to Gunn about the project and says the movie is in good hands.
“We had dinner the other night and he told me all about it, before everyone found out,” Fillion said. “I was on the inside on that one. Over some toro, tuna belly, we discussed how excited he is, how nervous he is, but how he wanted it very badly. He wanted it very badly. I think it’s in very capable hands. It’s in the right hands. Having worked with the man, I know what he’s capable of.”
