While we know what’s next for Iron Man, Captain America and Thor, Marvel Studios has been mum on who the next set of comic book heroes to get their own movie projects will be.
Today we can tell you that the Hollywood Reporter has learned that Marvel is moving forward with a Guardians of the Galaxy movie. The news was supposed to break during Marvel’s panel at the upcoming San Diego Comic Con, but it leaked out last week to Latino-Review.com.
The film has a script by Nicole Perlman, who wrote a Black Widow film treatment the impressed Marvel executives enough to bring her in to work on Thor. Marvel is reportedly pleased with the script and is moving forward, eyeing an opening date in May of 2014.
She has written two drafts of Guardians that are highly regarded. Adding to the heat surrounding Guardians is the fact that Marvel is on the hunt for a director. Those in the know say the project is in line with The Avengers in tone, with plenty of comedic elements on display.
