On the surface, it would seem like it’s a no-brainer for Joss Whedon to come back and direct the next Avengers movie.
But the director tells Hero Complex that he’s “torn” about coming back for the next installment.
“You know, I’m very torn,” Whedon said. “It’s an enormous amount of work telling what is ultimately somebody else’s story, even though I feel like I did get to put myself into it.”
Of course, Marvel would like to see Whedon back to direct the follow-up to its billion-dollar earning movie.
Do you think Whedon should come back? And will you still see Avengers 2 without Whedon at the helm?
Luke Phillips says
I’ll see Avengers 2 even if there’s a rabid chimp at the helm.
Michael Natale says
I’d see the next Avengers movie even without Whedon but I think he’s proved it would be so much better if he was involved.

This may be posturing for more control or money, that being said i’d probably prefer to see more of his own creations than another Avengers, particularly a Dr Horrible movie (or any other format for that matter)

I’ll go see Avengers movies regardless of who’s at the helm until they stop being good movies. I loved the Avengers from when I was a kid in the 60’s but if they stop being good movies I’m not going to lay down $8+ to see it.
That being said, I think Whedon has enough history now (I’m also including Cabin in the Woods, which was also great) to say that he improves the odds that it will be a great movie. So yes, I’d like to see him do the next one.

I saw Avengers because it was the Avengers. I saw it a second time because Joss Whedon was the director. I will be purchasing it on bluray as soon as it comes out because the movie is brilliant and funny and heart-wrenching and wonderful.
Yes, he should come back.
Lee in WV says
I will see it, but if Whedon isn’t involved, I’ll know that it will suck!
Paul Vize says
Joss , only agree to do it if they fund another season of Firefly
