Homer, Marge, Bart and the rest of Springfield are headed to your iPhone or iPad
EA will introduce a new game based on the long-running animated series The Simpsons in the next couple of weeks. The free game called The Simpsons: Tapped Out
lets you direct Homer, the rest of the Simpsons and other Springfield residents in rebuilding the city as you see it.
“The premise is Homer accidentally causes a meltdown and wipes out Springfield and it is up to you as the player to rebuild it and help him find Marge, Bart and all the rest of Springfield characters,” says Bernard Kim, Electronic Arts’ senior vice president of global social and mobile publishing. “He is literally unlocking all these iconic and fantastic properties, as well as the characters that are associated with them.”
The first character you unlock is Homer, who has to do some quests that “he doesn’t really like to do, like cleaning up,” Kim says. “The first character he unlocks is Lisa. Lisa actually likes to clean up and saving the environment. You are unlocking all these great characters as you play the game.”
