Bradley Cooper as Lex Luthor?

While we know that General Zod will be on hand for Man of Steel, there’s been one iconic Superman villain whose name has been absent–Lex Luthor.

Could it be that Zach Snyder decided to not recast the role of Luthor, played by Gene Hackman and Kevin Spacey in the original franchise?  Or  could it be that Snyder is hoping to surprise audiences with this choice of Luthor when the film opens.

Well, it may not be much of a surprise any longer.

Rumor has it that Snyder has cast Bradley Cooper as Luthor for the film.

According to Cosmic Book News,  Cooper might appear in Snyder’s Superman reboot. Apparently the actor’s latest film, Paradise Lost, has hit a snag, and production has been put on hold. While he’s waiting in the wings, Cooper’s rumored to appear in Man of Steel as Superman’s archnemesis Lex Luthor.

For now, it’s really just a rumor.  We’ve heard nothing official yet.
