A couple of weeks ago, director Kenneth Branaugh said he might like to direct another superhero movie in the near future.
Maybe he can step back into the directing chair for Thor 2. The project is looking for a new director after Patty Jenkins left the directing duties, citing “creative differences.”
“I have had a great time working at Marvel,” Jenkins told The Hollywood Reporter in an exclusive statement. ”We parted on very good terms, and I look forward to working with them again.”
The move is sudden since as late as Monday afternoon Jenkins was actively working on the movie.
I was rather floored when Branaugh didn't get the director's job for the second Thor movie. He certainly understood the scope and the dynamics of the title character as well as that of Odin. The movie did moderately well enough in the box office so again, I find his exclusion from directing the sequel to be extremely puzzling.
Maybe Disney/Marvel will re-think their decision and offer him the job again... Hope springs eternal!!!
