Robot on robot battles are proving to be solid business at the box-office. This week, Real Steel opened with $27.3 million to take the top spot in ticket sales.
Next up with George Clooney’s new thriller the Ides of March with $10.4 million.
Third place went to last week’s top earner, Dolphin Tale. The family film took in $9.1 million.
Rounding out the top five were Moneyball with $7.5 million and the comedy 50/50 at $5.5 million.

I caught a free preview of this a while back, and I have to say that I got my money's worth.
It wasn't nearly as stupid as I thought it would be.
Is it me, or does Real Steel just look like Rock 'em Sock 'em Robots?
Lejon - Yes..sorta.
I said it was a mashup of The Champ, Rocky and toss in a few robots.
It's not great, but it had a lot of heart. Much betterthan I originally thought it would be.
After watching it I have a feeling that it was originally going to be more sci-fi in tone, but that the studio decided at the last minute to change the direction of the movie and turn it into more of a family themed story.
There were one or two story threads which were never fully developed (Or abandoned?) which is part of the reason why it didn't end up being as strong a film as it could have been.
