"Mortal Kombat" Headed Back to Big Screen

Get ready for more movie action based on a video game.

Mortal Kombat is headed back for the silver screen according to the Hollywood Reporter.  The new version will be directed by Kevin Tancharoen, director of the short film Mortal Kombat: Rebirth.

The short was viewed more than 10 million times on YouTube, and although no movie deal materialized, he was asked to direct the 10-episode web series, which debuted in April, attracting more than 50 million unique visitors.

Off that success, Warner Brothers and New Line studios thought it was time to try to revisit a big-screen effort.
