Ever wanted a pair of 2015 Nikes like Marty McFly wore in Back to the Future, Part 2?
If so, now is your chance. (Assuming you’ve got $5,000 for a pair of them, that is!)
Nike announced today they will produce 1,500 pairs of the famous shoes, which will be auctioned off for charity. The shoes will be sold via E-Bay and all proceeds go to the Michael J. Fox Foundation.
The shoes will be available for ten days through September 18.
The company will auction 150 pairs for each day of the 10-day auction.
The Nike MAG was designed to be an exact replica of the shoes worn by Fox’s character purportedly in the year 2015. Features include a glowing LED panel and an electroluminescent “NIKE” in the strap.
The shoes will glow for five hours per charge.
The development of the Nike MAG comes more than two years after the company filed patents for a shoe featuring an “automatic lacing system,” like the ones worn by McFly.
A video posted online by Nike Thursday featured Lloyd as Dr. Brown rushing into a shoe store asking if the shoes have “power laces.”
“Not until 2015,” he’s told.
Dark Daimon says
Forget the power laces, by 2015 I want to see hover conversions and Mr. Fusion.
