The Invisible Man and Frankenstein could be getting new big-screen treatments.
According to reports, David Goyer is working on a script for a new big-screen version of The Invisible Man. Goyer has been working on the adaptation of H.G. Wells’ classic novel for several years now and reports indicate that a new leading man is being sought for the project. Universal hopes that the new Invisible Man could be the start of a franchise along the lines of the re-imagining of The Mummy several years ago.
As for Frankenstein, Deadline reports that Shawn Levy is interested in directing a new version of the famous story. Levy is currently attached to a remake of Fantastic Voyage but is reportedly unhappy with the project. Levy wants to cast Will Smith in the lead and 20th Century Fox hasn’t signed off on it. Fox wants to fast-track the film so that they can get a jump start on all of the other similarly themed movies and is interested in having Levy be the man to take their project through production.
