Calling it the best birthday present he could ask for, writer Ray Bradbury announced that his best-selling novel Dandelion Wine has been optioned as movie.
Bradbury will serve as an executive producer on the project with Phoenix Pictures’ Mike Medavoy. The script will be adapted by Rodion Nahapetov.
The semi-autobiographical novel was first published in 1957 and is set in 1928 and centers on a 12-year-old boy as he experiences small-town, summer life.
Bradbury, who turns 91 today, said, “This is the best birthday gift I could ask for. Today, I have been reborn! Dandelion Wine is my most deeply personal work and brings back memories of sheer joy as well as terror. This is the story of me as a young boy and the magic of an unforgettable summer which still holds a mystical power over me.”

Wow! Bradbury is still ALIVE! I was just today lamenting the lack of a living Heinlein. It’s good to know that one of the Big Three is still here
