While Universal has pulled the plug on the Dark Tower project, Ron Howard and Brian Grazer haven’t given up on bringing Stephen King’s epic fantasy series to the screen.
According to reports, the two are trying to raise financing for the Dark Tower project and would then distribute the films through a studio. (Probably not Universal, but you never know). Grazer says they still want to follow the model of telling the story via both movies and tv series, even hinting that Netflix could be interested in serving as the tv series distributor.
But don’t expect any major developments or movement on the project in the near future. Grazer says that it could be early next year before anything is finalized. He then added that Javier Bardem is still attached to star as Roland.
