Producer Charles Eglee says the pilot for FX’s Powers draws inspiration from The Dark Knight and Seven.
“For me it was about creating some interesting characters in a law enforcement context,” he explained. “It just so happens that the bad guys [our heroes are] fighting have abilities that regular people don’t have.”
The Powers pilot, based on the comic series by Brian Michael Bendis, will follow homicide detectives Christian Walker and Deena Pilgrim as they investigate crimes committed by super-powered criminals.
FX president John Landgraf previously said at the Television Critics Association that Powers could reinvent the superhero genre.
“I’m not saying that Powers isn’t fun, but it aspires to be a serious drama, and it’s fascinating to me to try to reshape and reinvent familiar genres,” he explained.

Sounds a bit like Alphas & Heroes.
I don't know, it sounds a little more solid than that to me. If this is anything like "Justified" or "Rescue Me" or "Sons of Anarchy", it could turn out to be a pretty gritty show. Maybe "Misfits" crossed with "The Shield". Which, would be pretty awesome.
