Yesterday, we brought you the new trailer for the upcoming seventh season of Supernatural.
If that had you hungry for me, our next story may just rev up that hunger a bit.
Producer Ben Edlund says the new threat for season seven is “massive.”
“[The Winchesters are] going to find themselves, in a sense, running from lots of guns,” he teased. “[With] their techniques [and] their methods, they know what they’re doing. They know their job. They have their support networks. [But] those things in their lives are going to challenged.”
However, Edlund also promised that aspects of the new season will provide elements of humor.
“There’s a natural absurdity to being on the air for seven seasons and the number of times [the characters have] died,” he said. “There’s a quality that’s going to lend itself to a little more ambient comedy this year.”
Actor Misha Collins also weighed in, saying that his character Castiel’s future on the show is uncertain.
“How much I’ll be on Supernatural [next season] is a secret. And I actually don’t know. That makes it easier to not tell you,” he says.
Collins also revealed that his character Castiel will be “drunk with power” following his transformation into a god in the show’s sixth season finale.
“He’s trying to do what he thinks a god should be doing on Earth and in Heaven, which is fairly righteous and wrathful,” he explained. “I think he’s making, in many respects, the world a better place. But there’s a fair amount of smiting going on too. You take the good with the bad.”
Supernatural will return on September 23.
