Starz has declined the option for a second season of Camelot, according to Deadline.
The cable outlet cited “significant production challenges” as the reason for deciding to not sign off on a second season. Deadline reports the challenges stemmed from the schedule of several actors involved in the show and their availability for a second season.

Seems strange that the actors have other commitments. They mist have seen the writing on the wall or this is just an excuse being used by the Studio.
Or possibly a potential drawback of series with shorter seasons, or too much time in between seasons. Actors have to find other work in between, and without assurances or committments from the network on a start date for the "next season", they might not have had enough info to know how to plan their work schedules to be available on a set date for more Camelot.
I think if the ratings had been high enough or the reviews a little more positive, Starz might have done things differently. They allowed the staff some extra time to retool Spartacus to continue that series after Andy Whitfield fell ill, didn't they?
So a number of actors saw the writing on the wal and jumped ship?
Too bad, it was finally starting to build into an interesting story. Took too long to build like most shows that got canceled too soon.
I was looking forward to season two and the Knights of The Round Table.
The show seemed to wander aimlessly from the point Arthur received Excalibur up to the point he was alone fighting for his life near the end of the season. Merlin's character development was too slow. I wanted to see him use his power & see what prices he really paid for doing so. I wanted to like it more than I actually did. Sorry to see it go though. At least I still have the Merlin series from the UK to get my Arthurian fix.
I'm not too surprised by this outcome. While I liked the show, I also got easily bored at times while watching. As Mike H says, at least we "still have the Merlin" series.
I had a really hard time liking Arthur, while I understand that he was in his youth and learning to be a king and a man, I found the whole philandering issue with Guinevere took me out of the story and I just had a hard time with Arther being a horndog and letch. It wasn't sexy, it was bothersome.
I did like Morgana's conspiring against her brother, that was fun. I also liked anything that involved Merlin, Joseph Feinnes was certainly the best part of the show. I would love nothing more than to follow his adventures.
All things considered, I have much more fun with BBC's Merlin.
