With news that Doctor Who will be back for another season, fans may be wondering if we’ll see Captain Jack Harkness darken the doors of the TARDIS again.
Actor John Barrowman says that he’d be interested in returning to the show if he was invited.
“I’ll go at the drop of a hat,” Barrowman tells Zap2It. “It’s in the cards, but who knows whether it will happen?”
Barrowman says that he likes current Doctor Matt Smith and the quirkiness that Smith brings to the role.
For now, nothing is confirmed.

Steven Moffat wanted Barrowman to return in episode 7 of series 6, but the scheduling didn't work out because Doctor Who was filming in Cardiff at the same time that Torchwood: Miracle Day was filming in the US.

Considering it was two of Moffat's episodes (The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances) that introduced Captain Jack, it is safe to assume that he will return eventually. Maybe not in Series 6 but maybe Series 7. I too would like to see John Barrowman and Matt Smith act together in an episode, makes for good television.
