The summer movie season opened a few weeks ago but it kicked into high gear with Memorial Day.
The sequel The Hangover, Part 2 took the top spot at the box-office. Opening last Thursday, the film took in $86 million over the weekend and has run up $117.4 million in five days.
In second place was Kung Fu Panda 2, taking in $53.6 million for its opening weekend.
Third place went to Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. The sequel took in $39.5 million.
Bridesmaids and Thor rounded out the top five.
Anyone else bothered by the fact that the top 3 slots are all sequels?
And my faith in humanity dies a little bit more.
