A couple of weeks ago, we brought you news that Ron Howard’s plan to bring the Dark Tower to movie and TV screens might be in jeopardy.
The Oscar-winning director refutes that report, saying the project isn’t in trouble, it’s just been pushed back. Instead of production beginning this fall, it will start next spring Howard says.
“We had to pull back to our September start date due to budget delays and ongoing story development and logistical issues, but Dark Tower is moving forward,” Howard says.
But will a delay have an impact on casting Javier Bardem as Roland? It appears that the stories of Bardem’s casting may have been exaggerated.
“I can’t really say who’ll be in it yet, but Javier Bardem has shown a great deal of interest,” Howard says.
As for why Howard thinks the series should be adapted as movies and a tv show, Howard explains, “There are elements of The Dark Tower saga that are more personal and can be best dealt with on television. TV allows you to roll out details of the characters in a more methodical way.”
So does this news make you feel more or less hopeful for the production?
