Actor Javier Bardem is in negotiations to play Roland in the upcoming Dark Tower movie series.
A couple of weeks ago, we reported that Bardem was the front-runner for the role of Roland, the last of the gunslingers, in the upcoming adaptation of the best-selling Stephen King series.
Deadline reports production on the first installment in the series, which will be filmed for both theatrical release and as a television series, will begin production in September with Ron Howard directing. The deal would cast Bardem as Roland in both the theatrical films and the television series based on the books.
