As Warner Brothers contemplates how to replace the revenue when the Harry Potter franchise ends later this year, one strategy is to begin creating the DC Universe on-screen.
We’ll get the first installment of that later this year with Green Lantern, followed next year by new movies with Batman and Superman.
But what about the long-rumored Justice League movie?
It could be happening sooner rather than later.
The project has been in development for years, but an interview with Warner Brothers head honcho Jeff Robinov reveals that it could be moving forward and hitting screens in 2013.
That’s what Los Angeles Times writer Ben Fritz reveals a new profile of Robinov. While not quoted directly about a Justice League film, Fritz writes, “He’s then aiming to release new “Batman” and “Superman” films in 2012 and “Justice League,” a teaming of DC’s top heroes, in 2013.”
This isn’t official yet. But it’s an interesting development.
Tim the Avatarless says
JLA movie in 2013 sounds a little early. At least Marvel has a plan leading up to their Avengers movie. Maybe Warner Brothers should take some notes. Should the Green Lantern movie be a box office success, then the JLA movie may finally move off of the drawing board. Would this be a modern JLA or a classic 60ish cast? Casting my votes now for The Atom and Firestorm.
