Blastr Discusses Why We Should Be Glad Firefly Failed

Many of us are disappointed that Firefly only ran  14 episodes of Fox.

But what if that was a good thing?

Blastr’s Marc Bernadin says that the failure of the show might have been a good thing.  Here’s a sample of why:

No Browncoats

Or, at least, not as we know them. The collective sense of offense that Something Awesome Was Taken Away From Us caused a whole community to form and, bound together by their loss, they went on to host screenings, throw conventions and raise tens of thousands of dollars for various charities. If Firefly lasts, none of that happens.

    Ever since the movie, I've been of the opinion it's a good thing Joss had to stop before he "fiddled" with it.

    I am happy with what we got. It still provides hours of entertainment, and it has resulted in a couple of friends I'd likely would never had (virtually) met otherwise.

    Does this mean that Firefly was needed as some sort of "sacrificial lamb" in order for us to come together?
