Just as Amazon jumps into the streaming video content world, Netflix pulls further out ahead of the field.
The on-line rental retailer has announced that it will soon begin streaming content from CBS. That library includes genre favorites “Star Trek” and “The Twilight Zone” as well as “Twin Peaks.”
It will be the first time that “Trek” has been available via streaming, reports SlashFilm.
Other shows included in the deal are “Medium”, “Flashpoint”, the original “Hawaii Five-0″, “Frasier”, “Cheers”, “Family Ties” and “The Andy Griffith Show”. They’ll all be available to stream starting in April.

Go netflix! Can't wait.
What? It's been available for streaming for years from both cbs.com and tvland.com among others. Fact check, people.
I'd love to watch Hawaii Five-0 via Instant Watch. I'm enjoying the new version and am interested in seeing the original.
Way to go Netflix... making Cable almost obsolete.
I don't know where Slashfilm gets its info from, but I've been able to stream Star Trek via Windows Media Center on Windows 7 ever since I installed the software.
It amazes me that there really isn't any serious competition for Netflix regarding content streaming. It might be interesting to see Apple get into it given their massive library.
Amazon is trying, and according to some latest stats is beginning to hedge up a bit. Someone will come along eventually and blow them out of the water...just ask Blockbuster, Betamax and Toshiba HD.
Sam, I'm certain someone will be a serious competitor to Netflix in the very near future but like I said, I'm surprised they've been alone for this long.
