NBC Casts Wonder Woman

NBC Casts Wonder Woman

February 17, 2011 By Mike Hickerson 5 Comments

adrianne-palickiNBC and David E. Kelley have found the face for their new Wonder Woman.

Actress Adrianne Palicki, best known for her work as Tyra on NBC and Direct TV’s “Friday Night Lights” has been cast in the role. Palicki may also be familiar to readers of Slice of SciFi for her role as Sam’s girlfriend in the first episode of “Supernatural.”

She can also be seen in the upcoming reboot of “Red Dawn.”

The project, from David E. Kelley Prods. and Warner Bros. TV, is a retelling of the DC Comics title in which Wonder Woman (Palicki), a.k.a. Diana Prince, tries to balance her life as a vigilante crime fighter, a successful corporate executive and a modern woman.

Palicki’s work on “Friday Night Lights” shows she has a fantastic range. Do you think she’s the right woman for the role?

Woooooow, this is super underwhelming. I’ve seen her as a brunette… eh, okay. However, being somewhat familiar with her work… I took about 4 steps forward in my position of just skipping this series. This has Bionic woman written all over it.

    Maybe I’ll be pleasantly surprised.

While she may have the chops for the role, I can’t see her in the part. Wonder Woman has always had and will have a particular look and style about her. I see nothing in her that says Wonder Woman.
As for Red Dawn reboot, this has been a major disappointment for me since its announcement. If they are gonna keep the regular story line then this will have to a period film. Red Dawn took place during the cold war. If they want to make it a present day film then it all falls flat with that original story. They would have to change the invading force to a modern day enemy. And we know who that is. That has the making of a disaster as well. I am one who finds no way to improve upon the original film other than perhaps a more in depth ending.

I guess I’m partial because of my fondness for her work on Friday Night Lights…but I think Paliacki could do a good job in the role.

It will be difficult for anyone to live up to the Linda Carter…esp. given the nostalgia factor that many fans will have for her and the original show.

But don’t just take my word for it…
