For his next project, director Michael Gondry says he’d like to try adapting Philip K. Dick’s novel “Ubik” for the big-screen.
Gondry broke the news to an audience at an exhibition of his work at the Pompidou Center.
As with all novels by PKD, adapting “Ubik” may prove to be an interesting task. “Ubik” is among one of the more mind-bending novels by the late writer and Gondry wouldn’t be the first to try and bring the novel to the silver screen
“Ubik” was voted one of the best novels of the 20th century by Time magazine. Reviewer Lev Grossman wrote, “From the stuff of space opera, Dick spins a deeply unsettling existential horror story, a nightmare you’ll never be sure you’ve woken up from.”
