A new live-action series based on the French fantasy comics magazine “Heavy Metal” is in development.
French DVD company We Productions has partnered with United Humanoids to produce a new half-hour series called “Metal Hurlant Chronicles.” A pilot has already been produced and is currently being shopped for distributors around the world.
Each half-hour segment will be filmed in both French and English, and each will be adapted from a story first published in the magazine. The pilot’s two stories are titled “Red Light” and “Cold Hard Facts.” Two seasons, a total of 12 episodes, will be produced and ready for airing next January.
No word yet on a specific U.S. distributor for the show yet, but Variety indicates that there is a conversation to bring the show to the United States.
