Susannah York, the British-born, Oscar-nominated actress has died at the age of 72 after losing her battle with cancer.
Best remembered for the film “They Shoot Horses Don’t They?” she also starred as Superman’s Kryptonian mom in the first film starring Christopher Reeve and Marlon Brando. York reprised the role in two other Superman films with Reeve.
Susannah was a much loved and sought after actress working with such great leading men as Albert Finney (“Tom Jones”), Sean Connery, George C. Scott. directors John Huston, Sydney Pollack and Tony Richardson.
