Some fans and critics were unhappy when news broke that Fox had decided to move “Fringe” to Friday evenings.
Fox president Kevin Reilly says that he hopes those fans and critics won’t use the move as an excuse to write the eulogy for the show just yet.
“I beg you not to write the eulogy prematurely,” he said Tuesday at the Television Critics Association’s winter preview. “It’s a show we’re passionate about. I really hope those fans would stick with it. I’d be heartbroken if it went away.”
Reilly also said that if viewers who watched the show on Thursdays followed the show to Fridays, it would be enough. “It would significantly improve our Friday night in terms of numbers and quality. … If our fans stick with us, the show could stay on the air for many years.”
“Fringe” will debut the second half of its third season on Friday, January 21.

That’s a bit encouraging to hear a network President say they moved a program to a Friday night timeslot in order to improve their ratings for that usually slow night. The fact that he has so much confidence in “Fringe” and its viewers to tune in Fridays and is already happy with the show’s ratings is a good sign. So then it is up to us to stick with the show on Friday. Hey, we’re scif fi geeks, what else have got to do on a Friday night……a date….yeah, like that’s going to happen. 🙂

IMNSHO, ‘Fringe’ is one of, if not the, best shows on TV now. It’s one of the few that are 100% must watch for me. I know I’ll be watching.

I don’t care when and where they move it, I’ll be there watching, live!
