Actors Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arteton have landed the lead roles in Paramount’s upcoming “Hansel and Gretel” movie.
The film will follow on from the classic fairy tale, chronicling how the duo went on to become bounty hunters after their childhood trauma.
Tommy Wirkola will direct the film, which is set to begin filming in March.
Arteton is best known for her work in the last Bond movie, “Quantum of Solace” and according to the Hollywood Reporter beat out Diane Kruger, Eva Green and Noomi Rapace for the role.
Renner has been seen in last year’s Oscar-winning film, “The Hurt Locker.”
Paramount reportedly is in a hurry to get filming on “Hansel and Gretel” under way in hopes of beating “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter” into theaters.
