Carnahan: "We Blew It With 'A-Team'"

Looking back, director Joe Carnahan admits that last summer’s “A-Team” movie “blew it.”

Speaking to the “Wall Street Journal, Carnahan” suggested that the blockbuster – which made just $77 million at the US box office – wasn’t marketed well enough by 20th Century Fox.

“We kind of fell victim to a marketing misstep in that there wasn’t necessarily an understanding of what the show was,” he said. “We didn’t do an adequate enough job of telling people what the movie was, if you know what I mean.”

Carnahan claimed that, despite a lack of clarity in the ad campaigns, he received positive feedback from people who went to see Liam Neeson, Bradley Cooper, Quinton Jackson and Sharlto Copley in the action film.

“If I had a nickel for every time someone, especially women, came up to me and said they were dragged to the film but ended up liking it…” he commented. “That’s how you know you blew it. And we blew it. Hopefully, we can make it up and find the audience the film should have found during the summer on Blu-ray and DVD. Fingers crossed.”

When asked about the chances of seeing an “A-Team” sequel, Carnahan said that “a large degree of it depends on how it does in this [DVD/Blu-ray] realm”.

I actually enjoyed the A-Team movie. It was fun ride that paid decent homage to the original, and the cast was good.

I wanted to see it the moment I saw Liam Neeson was in it. Now I want to see it more!

The Expendables, though... THAT... was crap.

The movie was a lot of fun and I can't wait to see it again on DVD. I don't think they had any casting missteps, with the possible exception of Jessica Biel, but I forgive her because she provides me with socially awkward moments. The action was good, the story was decent, the actors nailed the characters, there was some hilarity and hijinx and the pacing was spot on. What's not to like? It was one of the few movies this last Summer that I saw twice.

I'm with everyone else. The movie was great! It was a lot of fun and I look forward to the extended Blu-Ray DVD. It does a credit to the TV show without some of it's pitfalls.

I loved the movie as I loved the TV Show.

I even saw the film in theaters twice!

My only complaint was the cut scene with the theme shown in the trailer, hopefully its in the "extended" cut.

The ending was excellent! I loved how they did the ending.
