Kevin Williamson is reportedly developing a companion series for “The Vampire Diaries.”
The series is not a spin-off of the popular CW drama, but instead a new show that will be a supernatural-themed drama about a group of people who investigate paranormal happenings. Deadline reports it could be a cross of “The X-Files” and “Buffy the Vampire Slayer.”
The series is the first of several Williamson will develop for Warner Brothers. He signed a development deal with the studio earlier this year.
“Vampire Diaries” co-creator/executive producer Julie Plec will work on the project with Williamson.
The series will have its own pilot and won’t be spun-off of “Diaries.” At least that’s the case right now.

"a cross of “The X-Files” and “Buffy the Vampire Slayer"
So it's "Supernatural"?
Or Fringe, or Dresden Files, or Charmed, or Torchwood, or Being Human, or etc., ad nauseum!
Dave From Oz: Just what I was going to say. Although "a group" could mean they... *gasp* have a woman who LIVES! That could be fun
