Caruso Leaves Big-Screen "Y: The Last Man"

y_the_last_manDirector D.J. Caruso has decided to walk away from the big-screen adaptation of “Y: The Last Man.”

Based on the popular comic book series, the project would follow the story of the last male when a virus wipes out the male population of every other species on the planet.

Caruso says he left over creative differences with Warner Brothers, who is producing the film. The sticking point appears to be how many films it would take to tell the story. Warner wants a single film to tell the entire story (the series ran for 60 plus issues in the comics) and Caruso says that he’d like a trilogy to tell the entire story.

The project has long been in development limbo and it may be headed back there after this latest development.
