With only two episodes before taking a mid-season break, “The Event” producer Evan Katz is dropping a few hints about what fans can expect.
Katz tells TV Guide that next week’s episode, which is the mid-season finale, will reveal more details on Sophia, played by Laura Innes.
“We’ll learn a great deal about Sophia’s people,” he said. “How many there are, how they’ve integrated, and what the status of Sophia’s leadership over them is.”
Katz also revealed that the episode will introduce a new alien villain “who presents a challenge to Sophia’s leadership”.
Meanwhile, Katz explained that each season finale will focus on a different “major, large-scale, potentially world-changing event”.

SPOILER ALERT: (in case you missed it)
Gotta love the new software that makes actors look younger. Taking the 80-ish Hal Holbrook and knocking at least 40 years off his life in that mirror shot was nothing short of awesome and gives the viewers of this great scifi show something to ponder concerning some of the other aliens in the show.
Still not sure if this show is worth it or not. At this point I mainly watching it because it's on my Tivo. And I am still HATING the flashbacks that don't advance the story, but just break up the flow!
The story telling was (in my opinion) boring at best. I wasn't able to get past the 3rd episode and has since been dropped from my Tivo.
After this last episode I find myself starting to get a bit into it. Minus the empty pointless flashbacks, and once you get past the time jumps, it's decent. The last episode had no stupid flashbacks or time jumps and I found it rather enjoyable. Not great, but I was not surfing the internet while I watched it
It's the best new series this season. I don't know why people hate it so much. This is exactly the kind of show I want - a sci-fi conspiracy thriller.
