Two weeks into “The Walking Dead” and the series is setting ratings records for AMC.
And the cable outlet has rewarded the show with an order for a 13-episode second season.
The debut drew 5.3 million viewers and this week’s episode drew 4.7 million.
That ratings are close to double AMC’s other successful drama series, “Mad Men” and “Breaking Bad.”
“The Dead has spread!” said Charlie Collier, President, AMC. “No other cable series has ever attracted as many Adults 18-49 as The Walking Dead. This reaffirms viewers’ hunger for premium television on basic cable. We are so proud to be bringing back The Walking Dead again, across the globe.”
“I wish all programming decisions were no brainers like this one,” said Sharon Tal Yguado, SVP Scripted Programming. “The Walking Dead is a TV masterpiece on so many levels. We want at least 10 seasons, if not more”

Werd. I don’t agree with all of the deviations they’ve made to the series, but it’s still one of the best new showson TV and am compelled to see how the survivors make it to the next day.
That last scene with Glenn speeding down the highway…. instant classic.

Deviations? Is this based on something?
Its only 2 episodes in, but I like it alot. Very well done.
KG from DC says
Yeah, based on the on-going comic book series by Robert Kirkman. The whole ensemble bit in the second ep is not in the book. So, it was a different spin on Rick and Glenn getting out of Atlanta.

I lkie Walking Dead, but I also liked Rubicon which the great minds at AMC have so unwisely decided not to renew. I am glad the executives at this network are happy about The Walking Dead,. I wonder what happens when the novelty of The Walking Dead wears off? I am curious to see how long they can stretch a storyline to accomodate Zombies…
