I apologize to all the parents of young kids for this next story.
With “Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel” raking in a ton of cash at the box-office, you knew it was only a matter of time until we got another one.
And since it’s the third in the series and 3-D is all the rage, it isn’t a huge stretch to imagine it in 3-D.
Well, we’ve got a bit of good news. While there will be a third installment, the studio and potential director Mike Mitchell have decided to not make the upcoming third installment in 3-D.
So that means we’ll probably get another pun-tastic title but at least you won’t have to shell out as much to take the kiddos to see it in 3-D. The plot of the third film revolves around the Chipmunks getting shipwrecked, possibly in Hawaii.
Mitchell has previously directed this summer’s “Shrek” installment.
Mitchell is currently in talks to direct the next installment after Betty Thomas, who directed the first two films, passed on the project.

Chipmunks movies have plots? Huh. Learn something new every day.
Hmm, AATC was good back in the old days - i'm only 15, but I rather the old cartoon. The first CGI installment was okay, I guess, and the squeakuel? twas...alright...but a third? Many people I know are wanting it to revolve around more romance (PG rated at highest) because they were so cute together - like a little kiss between Alvin and Britt?
But Chip-Wrecked? and Hawaii?? hmm...
