Both Paramount Pictures and Marvel Studios reaped the rewards of “Iron Man” and “Iron Man 2.”
But that was before Marvel signed a deal with Disney. But that’s still not stopping Paramount from profiting from the success of the Marvel Pictures films. Under the terms of a new deal, Paramount has sold the distribution rights to “The Avengers” and “Iron Man 3″ to Disney for $115 million.
With several new franchises on the radar, Paramount was in a solid position to sell the rights to Disney instead of keeping them, reports the Hollywood Reporter.
“Five years ago, when Paramount and Marvel made our initial deal, both our businesses were in very different places,” Paramount Studios chairman Brad Grey said. “Today, this new agreement is the right deal for Paramount, for Marvel and for Disney. We look forward to working together on ‘Thor’ and ‘Captain America,’ and we wish Disney and Marvel the utmost success in what we know will be a very productive and wide-ranging partnership.”

I suppose it's $115 million now, as opposed to $415 million later....
