Snyder To Direct Next Superman

Director Zach Snyder has taken on two iconic graphic novels for the silver screen in “Watchmen” and “300.” So why not direct one of the biggest icons in all of comic books, Superman?

Snyder has been tapped to direct the next Superman installment.

With a script by David Goyer and produced by Christopher Nolan, the film has been scheduled for release during the holiday season of 2012.

Snyder says he was surprised to land the movie.

“I had always been a huge fan of the character, but this is out of the blue,” Snyder tells USA Today.

The director says he’s aware of the huge weight and responsibility he bears in bringing the Man of Steel back to the silver screen.

“He’s the king daddy, no two ways about it,” Snyder says.

Snyder’s first task will be finding the right actor to play Clark Kent and Superman on-screen.

Snyder says Nolan came to him with a script “that’s really cool. I can’t give away anything about it, but I liked it right away.”

Whether genre fans will could determine the fate of Krypton’s son.

“We’re well aware,” Snyder says, “that we’ve opened a big can of worms.”

  1. Why does this not inspire confidence with me? Maybe because I thought "300" was crap and wasn't at all excited about "Watchmen."

Can we just wait another 20 years or so?
