For the second week in a row, “The Expendables” was the king of the box-office. The film dropped 53% from its opening last week and still landed in first place, taking in $16.5 million.
The action vehicle held off five new films, including a surprisingly strong debut by the parody, “Vampires Suck.” The film took in $12.2 million over the weekend and has notched over $18 million since it debuted Wednesday.
The Julia Roberts romance “Eat Pray Love” was third with $12 million, followed by the comedy “Lottery Ticket”, which surprised analysts with $11.1 million.
Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg’s “The Other Guys” rounded out the top five with $10.1 million.
The horror film “Piranha 3D” met expectations with $10 million, good for sixth place.

The big winner here is Vampires Suck because it probably cost next to nothing to make. The people behind this can probably make Vampires Suck 2 & 3 with entirely new casts and no one will notice.
