A few weeks ago, we brought you news that actor Karl Urban was in the running for the lead role of the “Judge Dredd” reboot.
It’s been confirmed this morning that Urban has been cast as the new Judge Dredd.
Urban takes over the role from Sylvester Stallone.
“Our idea is to make a very hard, R-rated, gritty, realistic movie of Dredd in Megacity, so we’ve got to get the tone right,” producer Andrew MacDonald tells E! Online. “He’s not going to take off his helmet [unlike Sylvester Stallone in 1995 movie]. His bike is going to feel real. He’s going to hit people and it’s going to feel real.”
“There’s been a change in comic-book movies; they were treated unseriously and now they’re treated seriously,” he added.
The new Dredd begins shooting later this year.

Keith will be really good - IF they do this seriously. Approach it more like the Christopher Nolan "Dark Knight" movies.
