After three weeks at the top of the box-office, “Inception” lost the crown to the latest Will Farrell movie.
Viewed by some as a box-office comeback by the former “SNL” star, “The Other Guys” opened with $35.6 million.
“Inception” was second, holding off a furious Friday start by “Step Up 3D.” The box-office leader for the past two weeks earned another $18.6 million and the film has passed the $200 million mark. Warner Brothers estimates the film is doing well based on word of mouth and repeat business, estimated that 15% of this weekend’s box-office total is fans seeing the film a second or third time.
“Step Up 3D” debuted in third with $15.5 million.
Angelina Jolie’s latest movie “Salt” was fourth with $11.1 million and “Dinner for Schmucks” was fifth with $10.5 million.
