Only one week into its theatrical run and many Hollywood insiders were predicting “Inception” would have a hard time holding on to the top spot at the box-office. They predicted that Angelina Jolie’s new movie “Salt” might give the Christopher Nolan movie a run for its money.
Both films were after the same audience.
And the winner is “Inception.”
The movie held on to the top spot at the box-office, taking in another $43.5 million and pushing the film past $100 million for its first ten days of release.
“Salt” was a solid second with $36.5 million and may have been hurt by less favorable reviews to those for the Nolan thriller.
The animated comedy “Despicable Me” was third with $24.1 million while in fourth was “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice” with $9.7. “Toy Story 3” was fifth taking in $9 million, lifting its total to $379.5 million.
Ticket sales were up 9% over the same weekend last year.

I think its about more than just reviews – it suggests that people are more interested in seeing a fascinating new idea than an (even well done) old one. And that is very good news.
