The long-in-development, big-screen version of Max Brooks’ “World War Z” may finally be gaining some momentum.
Brooks told MTV News at ComicCon that the movie is ramping up and that Plan B Entertainment will begin production for a summer 2012 release.
Plan B is headed up by Brad Pitt and the company engaged in a bidding war with Leonardo DiCaprio’s Apian Way production company to secure the rights. Many speculated that Pitt was pursuing the movie rights in order to star in the film. However, that’s all been speculation until now.
Brooks confirms that Pitt will play the lead role in “World War Z.”
“I can’t believe how cool Paramount has been to me and these projects, and how cool Plan B has been,” said Brooks when asked for his reaction to the news.
