While many of us aren’t sure a fourth “Scream” installment is a good idea, actress Hayden Panettiere says she thinks not only is it a good idea but that it’s the right time for more of the franchise.
“I think it’s just perfect timing, the amount of time that has passed since the last one came out,” she tells MTV News. “It’s a perfect setup, with all of these films … the [fictional] ‘Stab’ [movies] and all the things like that. I think with all of the ‘Scream’ [films], the idea is to throw the audience for a loop every time.”
The original film caught audiences off guard when it was originally released, sending up the conventions of the horror and slasher genre and bringing fresh blood (no pun intended) to horror movies. And Panettiere insists the fourth installment will do the same thing for a new generation of fans.
“For an audience that is so well-versed in ‘Scream’ [films] and in what happens and who becomes the killer, blah, blah, blah, it’s trickier to throw them a curveball,” she said. “I think they’ve done a really cool job with the script. We’ve had a blast on it.”

Well, I did like the prior films, and there are more than a few actors in the cast that I like.
Then again, the same was true of Godfather Part III. Remember how THAT one turned out?
