Actor James McAvoy will step into the shoes of Patrick Stewart for the upcoming “X:Men: First Class.”
McAvoy has been cast as Charles Xavier, better known as Professor X. The role was originally played on the big-screen by Patrick Stewart.
Produced by 20th Century Fox and directed by Matthew Vaughn, this prequel will “chart the epic beginning of the X-Men saga. Before Charles Xavier and Eric Lensherr took the names Professor X and Magneto, they were two young men discovering their powers for the first time. Before they were archenemies, they were the closest of friends, working together, with other Mutants (some familiar, some new), to stop the greatest threat the world has ever known. In the process, a rift between them opened, which began the eternal war between Magneto’s Brotherhood and Professor X’s X-Men.”
Dave in NY says
I’m not excited…
I wasn’t impressed with Wanted or his acting.

Dave – his acting was more impressive in the Children of Dune miniseries, if you haven’t seen it. He can pull of intelligent and sophisticated, I’m not too worried.
BMid says
Hopefully this will make him too busy to play Bilbo Baggins, and they will cast Martin Freeman in the role.
