A couple of months ago, we brought you news that a Judge Dredd reboot was in the works.
It appears that that the reboot has taken a step closer to happening. According to Deadline, the project has secured funding from Reliance Big Entertainment and IM Global to finance the film for DNA Films.
The script for the film comes from screenwriter Alex Garland and will be directed by Pete Travis.
And yes, in case you were wondering, it will be in 3-D.
Based on a UK comic book, the original told the story of a law enforcement officer, Dredd, in a dystopian future 122 years from now where Judges combine the powers of police, judge, jury, and executioner to enforce the law. The new movie is supposed to be more closely based on the UK comic according to reports.
The first movie starred Sylvester Stallone as the title character. Stallone is probably too old to play the role now, opening speculation on who will play Dredd in the new version.
